Lure Coursing.

Here's a couple of pictures of afghans competing at a lure coursing event run by the British Sighthound Field Association (BSFA).

Lure coursing is a humane sport which by re-creating the chase of a hare tries to stimulate the hound's natural instinct to chase. The "bunny" (a bunch of plastic bags) is attached to a continuous loop line that runs through a series of pulleys to simulate the zigzag path a hare might run in the open field. The dogs run for fun with the owners getting the occasional ribbon or trophy for a good performance. Coursing is not just a race. The dogs, usually sighthound breeds, are judged not only on speed, but also on keenness, agility and accuracy in following the path of the lure and their stamina in completing the course.
